Drivers’ tyre choices for Italy and Belgium confirmed

2017 F1 season

Pirelli has confirmed the tyre selections for all the drivers for the upcoming races at Spa and Monza.

There is little variation in the choices for Monza, where all the drivers have chosen either nine or ten sets of the softs compound available.

However Pirelli’s decision to nominate the softest available compound for this weekend’s race at Spa, has prompted a wider range of selections. Red Bull and McLaren have opted for nine sets of ultra-softs per driver while Ferrari and Mercedes have been markedly more conservative, the latter choosing just six sets.

    1. From the two pictures above, you can notice how interesting the “three tyres rules” would be if we had softer tyres, or more aggressive decisions from Pirelli.

    2. I have a feeling those two tables should be reversed. Mediums have no place on Monza and neither does the US on Spa.

      1. @CristianS Yes, Medium indeed has no place in Monza, but we can’t be entirely sure about how the US will fare in Spa yet. Remember that this year’s softest compound is harder than last year’s hardest compound.

    3. Might be worth making the colors a bit brighter next time. It’s hard to tell the SS and US apart.
